Markella Skourti is a musician, founder and active member of the Non-Profit Company “The Way of Music”.
Her music compositions are orchestral, with elements of jazz, traditional folk Greek and electronic music, and they are connected to empathy, nature, humanity, and creation. She has the ability to convey emotions and, at the same time, touch the sensitivity and emotions of the audience, telling stories, ideas, and messages.
Her original approach to music composition combines the significance of music with every vital aspect of society, such as arts, education, health, sciences, and research. This bridge was naturally formed as a result of her education and successful professional path. Until 2017, her professional career spanned two different fields, music and internal auditing in Ionian Hotel Enterprises S.A. company on the Athens Stock Exchange. This connection led her to a better understanding of the real needs of contemporary individuals and their musical representation, as well as her improved ability to adapt to various roles and challenges in the field of music. Since the end of 2017, she has devoted herself exclusively to her love for music.
As a composer, among others, she composed, orchestrated, and produced music for the “Virtual Museum of Greek Immigration to Canada” in collaboration with McGill University in Montreal, under the sponsorship of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, create music for the short documentary film “A Thread of Life in the Mile End”, composed holistic music compositions, in collaboration with a psychologist for hypnotherapies and meditation, with a specific music structure that helps synchronize the brain-emotion-body with calmness, concentration, and the enhancement of individual skills and behaviors, wrote the children’s song “Ouranio
Toxo” with Subways Music and the Erateio Conservatory, composed music for a documentary on behalf of the non-profit organization Mexoxo.
As a creator of educational music programs, she incorporates music into educational programs and activities, promoting creativity, free thinking and expression, self-exploration, exploration of emotions, and communication. Among other things, she created “The Creation of Music” for creative composition and improvisation, which was implemented at the Modus Vivendi cultural space in Vrilissia-Athens and collaborating with Schools such as Arsakeio-Tositseio Elementary School.
As a piano teacher, she created a unique system that empowers students to explore their creative potential and develop their musical skills through piano, composition, and improvisation.
